I'm of the opinion that the nicest greeting or farewell that I can give to a person during December is "Merry Christmas". It is meant to wish peace and brotherhood to another person. I have never had a person of another faith tell me that they were offended because they understood the spirit in which I said it. I would also not be offended if someone wished me a "Happy Hanukah", etc. because I would take that as that was the nicest thing that they could wish me.
If only people would stop trying to make strife for just a few weeks a year.....
