Beating Stanford would be a win over the school that has probably taken over as the top choice for many HS recruits who have good academics. Instead of just being lowly Stanford competing for recruits with esteemed ND, their recent success have most likely given them the advantage in head to head recruiting with ND.
On the other hand, Usc is our most hated traditional rival and have had their way with us for longer that we care to think about. Plus, they still have more national prestige than Stanford.
To clarify the question, it states which would be a "better" win for ND, not which team would you " want" ND to defeat the most - ND or Stanford.
Why would you even ask this.
Stanford is a "Jonnie come lately".
usc would be bigger.No question.Lets beat both.LOL
This year I think it would be Stanford. This is Stanford's year to 'validate' what they did with Luck and Harbaugh. If they don't, I think you will see the marked decline in their recruiting prowess, and the negative recruiting will start in earnest against them.
USC, on the other hand, could be that win that Lou S. always refers to. The win that marks ND as being back... if USC does what they are predicted to do.
I would go with Stanford simply because it is earlier in the year and it is a school that is more on an equal footing with ND in the full spectrum of what student athletes are supposed to be.

I would say Stanford. I think there are more kids "on the fence" when it comes to deciding on Stanford or ND than there is for fUSC/ ND
3 time POTW
My hope is that they put the beat down on both.

USC, by far. They will probably be contending for the national championship.
Losing to Stanford or Michigan again would be a really big disappointment though. Kelly has to get it done with them!
USC will almost assuredly be #1 in the country at that point--if not then #2. When's the last time we beat a true N.C. contender?...don't say U of M like 5 years ago because they ended up sucking.
Beating Southern Cal would be HUGE.
Wow! I got a -1 for that. Note to anyone that says Stanford, it will cost you. Maybe I misunderstood the question. Who knows. Of course beating USC would be huge. I was just thinking that there are more guys that have to decide between Stanford/ND than there is USC/ND. Mostly because the academics are similar. Good thing I can still sleep.
USC would be my choice if i had to choose. But i want to beat both.

Seriously...you have to ask?
My luck w/the Irish 20-6...GO IRISH!!!
I can't even believe this is a question. USC is one of our longest and fiercest rivals! We are 1 - 9 against them in our last 10 tries.
Stanford is a program that is 56-63 in its last 10 seasons. How can this even be a question???
3 time POTW;
SC and it isn't even close
