"There is no question we spent a considerable amount of time and effort looking at who we thought were the best collegiate candidates for our head coaching job."
"We did so knowing that there was a remote chance that these coaches would leave their current posts. We understood that going into the process, but we wanted to leave no stone unturned while trying to find the best head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. We have no regrets about the effort we made in that direction and we will continue to proceed as planned in our search."
Isn't it odd that the Eagles would make an official statement? That never happens in these situations.
It IS odd..mmm
Apparently, they want Kelly to feel the love in the event Lovie doesn't work out for them. Just a guess as to Lovie.
“Notre Dame? Relevant? Of course. Call me in 90 years, and I’ll give you the same answer.” Neal Pilson, former president of CBS Sports
It isn't odd at all. It's just good business. The Eagles are coming off several down years, their fan base is almost as rabid as ND fans. They are being thorough in their search for the next coach, looking at 2 of the more successful college coaches, and all those with NFL experience looking for employment.
At this point, the Eagles have not told their fans anything, while Kelly & Kelly have made public statements saying they will remain with their existing schools. I think it is a savvy move by the Eagles to let their fans know there is a plan and a process and not to be discouraged by these 2 rejections. Especially since they were longshots to begin with.
May your neighbors respect you, Trouble neglect you, The angels protect you, And heaven accept you.
