Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man who duped Manti Te'o, served as the voice of Lennay Kekua for months on lengthy phone calls, according to his lawyer.
A story in today's New York Daily News reports that Tuiasosopo disguised his voice to sound like a woman's while talking to Te'o. Milton Grimes, the lawyer made famous while representing Rodney King, said Tuiasosopo has had vocal and dramatic training and was the president of his high school drama club.
Grimes said Tuiasosopo's motives were not just to play a cruel joke. He said Tuiasosopo eventually wants to tell his side of the story.
The bizarre Manti Tes lawyer said.
I think tuiasosopo may be a little sweet!
4 cents short of a nickel IMO
A little light in the pants?
Really? This is pretty hard to fathom.
3 time POTW;
This just went from a really weird story to a really, really creepy story.
I didn't think that I could feel any worse for Manti in this situation, but now I do.

Teo needs to stop doing interviews. This story gets freakier by the hour.
Thank goodness that we are not all advising Te'o! "He needs to stop doing interviews." "He needs to do a live interview immediately." "He needs to release his phone records." "He doesn't need to release his phone records."
Look this Tuiasosopo cat is one weird, demented kid. I can only think of two scenarios regarding this whole situation:
1. He had some weird man-crush on Te'o, and fantasized about this "relationship" actually evolving.
2. He was hoping to score a book or movie deal through this whole twisted soiree.
What is sad is if you read the comments on the link above. People believe that the University and Te'o were complicit in this, and the University is paying off Tuiasosopo to take the heat.
All very sad!
Right on TLud. Unfortunately, the media has created enough sensationalism to make this type of sociopathic behavior a spectator sport. This Tuiasosopo needs a rubber room. It is most sad that his level of mental illness is directly proportionate with how the media will spin Manti's relative involvement, when it should actually be viewed obversely.
The more that comes out on this story, the stinkier it becomes.
I'm waiting for the report that he owns 23 cats
Don't you agree at this sad moment in time that we have had enough of disingenuous journalism and lazy, unsubstantiated parroting of this, less than newsworthy, topic? Please move on!
I wonder if they ever sent sext messages or talked dirty late at night lol

This couldn't have been much worse for Manti. Now we find out it was a male on the other end of the phone for hundreds of hours. Cue the homosexual jokes immediately. I'm hearing them everyday as it pertains to Manti and now they will have a lifetime of fire power towards him. It's gonna be hard to bounce back from all of this. I wish him all the best.

Question that will undoubtedly get asked when Tuiasosopo gets his "fame" moment in front of a camera during an interview:
"Can you show us the voice you used while on the phone with Manti Te'o for hours on end?"

Thanks for the input, Grokster. As I said in the past all Te'o-related posts are clearly marked that way. If you've had enough, please avoid clicking on them in the future. There's plenty of other interesting content on our message board and homepage.
Undoubtedly. I seen where Couric said they will be airing the voicemails "Kekua" left for Manti.
You're far to nice Dan. Bring down the hammer

This is just getting weirder! On ABC World News with Dianne Sawyer last night, Katie Couric was on and she said she heard voicemails from the woman on Teo's phone. Couric seemed to think it was a woman. Should anyone beleive anthing that Tuiososopo or his lawyer says? Could he be covering for a female that was in on the hoax by saying it was him and only him?
Tuiasosopo is a singer my guess is he did this to get in tight with Teo and then have Teo rep his music.
If I was Teo's advisor I'd send him on SNL and have him mock himself.
I dont think someone would participate in an online hoax for 4 years at the request of someone else. I think it was all ROnianh
Yikes!! SO effin creepy....wonder if this Tuiososopo guy lived at home? Did anyone ever over hear him talking in a lady voice? Was HE actually in love with Manti, and posed as a woman to get to him?
Ugh, so dreading having to watch Katie Couric tonight....but I cant help myself.
LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!
I said at the start that there is no way he Teo comes out of this unscathed. Ican't believe you all are attacking the press, including our own, for doing their job.
Is this a news and discussion board or a cheerleading clinic?
Hear are a few sample voicemails from Lennay...
Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o has claimed he is the victim of a cruel hoax after it was revealed that his girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, never existed and that her death was faked. He says he believed that she was real and that he spent hours talking on the phone with Lennay, sometimes even falling asleep with her on the other end of the line. Katie reviewed Manti’s phone records and there were, in fact, dozens of calls, some hours long, to one phone number, the number Manti Te’o says belongs to Lennay Kekua. So who was this person on the other end of the phone? Listen to the voicemails Manti Te’o provided exclusively to “Katie”:
This is just stranger by the minute. I wish him well but thank God hes not comimng back. It would be a circus.
