They just got a verbal from the #1 player in Texas today...giving them 34 pledges. This is ridiculous. Are they really going to have like 10 early enrollees? In order to fit under the "25 max" rule per year, they would have to! Isn't there a limit on the number of people you can put towards last years class? Why do I have a feeling this is just more SEC bull$hit over-signing!?

My luck w/the Irish 20-6...GO IRISH!!!
"giving them 34 pledges"
considered "undersigning" in SEC
For those wondering... they signed 19 last year!
Midterm signees count toward 2012 class. Aggies have a large number of these. Not in jeopardy of over signing apparently (Per JC Shurburtt)
welcome to the SEC west there is no magic potion, coaches arent above all better in the SEC, Players arent above all better in the SEC. So why the dominance? Oversigning at its best. A&M might get 5-7 recruiting mulligans this year, BIG ADVANTAGE ! A&M might pull 3 schollies from early enrolless if some stud slot back makes grades by May, if he doesnt , oh well he goes to A&M minor league school......sorry, a JUCO school

Correct, but they can easilly cut 3-5 of these kids if other commits make grades by May It is like a tax shelter for SEC schools, instead of rolling $, they are rolling kids scholarships till they find the best 85
Yes the limit on the number of people you can put towards last years class is 25.
Do they get a bonus allotment because they use the "twelfth man"?
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
I am getting the idea that A&M is about to become the new dominant force in the SEC. When you combine Texas recruiting with SEC recruiting, that is quite a pool of talent to draw from.
There's a big thread on this on tBB. A&M can have 10 EE this year, so they're looking for 35, and maybe even 37 because they expect 2 won't qualify academically.
Their bigger problem will be with the 85 overall.
And is expected to receive a visit from the nation's top ILB Reuben Foster.

Saban is a master of this at Alabama, using Grey Shirts and 'Alumni' scholarships and not renewing others. If you bring in just 30 kids a year, after 4 years you have signed an entire additional class! How big an advantage is it to have signed 25% more players than your opponents?
Are we sure it's really 34 people? If half of them follow the example of their Heisman QB and get fake IDs to be over 21, then it may only seem there are 17 freshman.
