I wouldn't have thought I would be typing this, especially knowing that we're 6-0 and sitting at #5 in the BCS Poll, but think about this...
EG sits and rests and learns during the first half against BYU. EG comes in and starts the 2nd half and he and Tommy split time the rest of the way. This gives us a feel for how a good defense has to adjust against the two-pronged approach, but more importantly, allows us to utilize their skill-sets as the team needs them.
Tommy shows us what we can expect against another tough defense instead of him having to come in and save the day. I would continue to utilize EG for run packages and split PT, but if we're going to use two QB's, then let's use two QB's to the fullest potential.
Furthermore, we need Tommy - and we're going to need him against Oklahoma. Not sure if anyone heard the commentary from Rod Gilmore this weekend but his praise for TR was amazing to say the least. He's a Stanford Grad as well. He said he doesn't think people can appreciate how difficult a task it was to come off the bench after standing in cold, wet weather, against a stout Cardinal defense and take the team to OT and win the game. Our offense gels when he's in there. He checks off correctly every single time. I think he deserves this chance and getting behind in Norman in two weeks, is NOT what we need.
Unconventional, maybe... but we can't keep expecting our D and Tommy to bail us out like this with our two toughest opponents right in front of us.

Our defense is good enough to keep us in games. I say play Everett for a half or quarter (depending on how the game is going) and see what he does. If he looks off like he has against Michigan and Stanford, then put Tommy in. I say start him, evaluate and if its crystal clear like it was with Stanford go to Tommy by the half.

To make that switch you basically say we are going to win every game this year with TR. I'm not sure on that. You retard the growth of EG if you sit him. I think we have just as much if not more chance to win starting EG with TR in relief if needed. Going to 2013 and 2014 you are much more probable for a title run with EG starting every game this season and going threw growing pains. If you sit him now you delay the growing pains.
This isn't a math test, passion has a funny of trumping logic.
i hear ya but disagree on this one point. suppose rees starts but stumbles with the game close. ya think golson can tighten the screws and win from behind? maybe he could. but with the game on the line i'll take the (rees) closer everytime......so far it's not broke, so no need to fix it.
Run the ball.

If our defense was as good last year as it is this year, we would have won every game with Tommy at qb IMO. Why not now? A lot of teams would love to have TR.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. 6-0 says it's working out just fine.

Now that you put it that way, I'm agreeing with Coach Clancy!

i may not be a coach of 23 years (like Kelly)
or gone undefeated (like kelly)
or had developed a team to the point that even after i was gone it was able to go into the biggest stadium in the country and take down one of the more historic team in college football.(like kelly)
but i think Coach Kelly has the situation well in hand.
I trust what this coaching staff has built and the results are showing on the field. If i could change one thing I would involved Neal in the game more
He was a huge get for this team and we are burning a redshirt so he can waive his hand in the air.
but what do I know, I havent been coaching, going undefeated or developing small programs into big things.
