Odds of that happening? My guess is 50/50 at best. I'm crossing my fingers though.
Gringo Mafia Director of Recruiting Analysis // POTW --> 5-16-11 / 5-30-11 / 3-5-12 / 12-30-12 / 2-24-13 / 9-1-13 / 9-22-13
5 Time POTW--Gringo Mafia Director of Guerrilla Warfare
Oh how our recruiting for 2014 has changed the last 24 hours.. So much for a small class.
I know the staff had moved on from Thaddeus Snodgrass, but could the transferring of two freshmen WR's change that? Or has that ship sailed?
Also, get me some names fellas. We need to add WR's to this list. I want another half dozen. I don't think it's unrealistic to think we take 4 WR's this cycle the way this is going.
I know it means very little, but I like seeing the following prospects listed as 'WARMER':
Even if we could get three of the seven I would do a backflip. (Preferably Luatua, McDowell, McDermott or Smith, but I hope take any of the RB's in a heartbeat)
Speedy Noil – Now #17 overall/#1 WR
Drake Harris – Now #36 overall/#3 WR
Malachi Dupre – Now #54 overall/#5 WR
Mark Andrews – Now #63 overall/#8 WR
Jalen Harvey – Now #85 overall/From #19 to #9 WR
Dallis Todd – From NR to #90 overall/#11 WR
Josh Malon – Now #93 overall/#12 WR
Artavis Scott – Now #114 overall/#14 WR
Johnnie Dixon – From #223 to #121/#17 WR
Derek Kief – Now #130 overall/#20 WR
Dominique Booth – Now #223 overall /#25 WR
Terry Googer – Now #32 WR (Also listed as DT QB)
Added to Part Two:
WR Saeed Blacknall – #212 overall/#24 WR – 6’2”/190 lbs. – Englishtown, NJ – No Offer – Probability: Low
WR Adonis Jennings – #30 WR – 6’3”/185 lbs. – Haddonfield, NJ – No Offer – Probability: Low
WR Dorian Leonard – #43 WR – 6’4”/200 lbs. – Longview, TX – No Offer – Probability: Low
WR Dionte Sykes – #45 WR – 6’4”/200 lbs. – Gilbert, AZ – No Offer – Probability: Low
Really hoping we offer the kid out of AZ, name escapes me, who happens to be a teammate of recentlly offered DT/OL Curtis..Really like the NJ kid you added too.
"ATH Elijah Hood – #106 overall/#9 ATH – 5’11.5”/209 lbs. – Charlotte, NC – Offered- Probability: LOW "
Is there are reason why Elijah Hood is listed as "low" in your list? I know he is backing off a little and pumping the breaks on the recruiting process, but I thought we were still sitting better than any other program with him
Considering how things have transpired, I feel safe saying that I don't believe Hood ends up in South Bend. Just my opinion.
I think we are still in it for Hood. I am no expert, but he continues to hang around. Give Kelly a chance to woo mom and dad, like he did with the Redfield's and Vanderdoes'. Not saying Hood is a lock, but momentum can swing our way again.
With that, how good is Stark? And are we really sitting highly there?
Gringo Mafia Strength Coach
A question, why have we not gone after the qb from KY? He sounds perfect for our offense, huge passing #'s along with big rushing stats. Is the competition that weak?
Just full of questions this morning. I see we have some nice recruiter coming in the next few weeks. What are our chances to get a couple commits? I am thinking of Mustipher, Stark and a few others that we sound like we are in their top echelon of teams?
I love that we have two good dlinmen already, with another from NY visiting soon. But I would love to see another olineman or two jump on board in the next couple of months. Olineman seem to commit early in the past. Hoping we fortify the lines again this year with the quality we did last year.
I agree. The staff could change the momentum, but right now I'm not seeing it.
Starks is good. Really good. I would argue he is a superior prospect to Hood and I think our chances, currently at least, are much better with Starks than Hood.
Also, I am not sure why we aren't after Drew Barker. 6'4"/210. 2100 passing. 22 TD. 1500 rushing. 18 TD. I personally think we should be and even if competition is somewhat weak, it's still fairly obvious he has the tools to be a successful spread QB.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a few commits in the next month with the spring game and everything. McDermott is close to a decision. He could be Irish or a Cane. Starks I don't believe is near a decision, but you never know. We are definitely in his top tier. We are in the top two with Luatua (along with Bama) although I don't know if he's ready to decide either. Luatua, JuJu Smith, and Mama are visit together the way it sounds so I think its crucial to impress the trio. Mustipher has us in his top echelon as does Braden Smith after his recent visit. I know TE Dalton Schultz, TE Nic Weishar, and C Brian Allen are all very solid on the Irish as well. At this point, it's a crap shoot.
Thomas Holley from Brooklyn and the same HS as Ishaq I believe will be visiting. He's still raw, but his recruitment has blown up. I think we are a real player there.
I am personally more concerned with getting the DL solidified before the OL. With last year's haul, we can afford to be pickier. With the DL, we need to continue adding depth in addition to Trumbetti and Hayes. Khairi Clark, Malik McDowell, the above listed Holley, Nifae Lealao, Jesse Aniebonam, and Andrew Williams all seem to be DL we have made positive impressions on. I would take getting Clark and McDowell over Smith and McDermott at this point. JMHO.
Appreciate it NDGuy. You do a great job on this thread.
Thanks Benny. I try given my limited knowledge.
What's going on with Hayes guys? April Fool's? Clearly? Hoping so.
April Fools, just glad he is still committed.
He will pay for that at some point.
Braxston Cave @BraxstonCave52 2h
fake committing/decommitting as a April Fools joke is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Won't be funny when they put the pads on in August
I'd say so...although Cave won't be around next year.
CB D'Andre Payne - Committed to Tennessee
DT Anthony Moten - Committed to Florida
OT KC McDermott - Committed to Miami
CB/S Kyle Gibson - Armwood HS - Low to Medium/High
Dallis Todd and Derek Kief both offered. I really like Dallis Todd. Get him in the fold and let him reel in HS teammate Tyler Luatua. Just sayin'.
