T'eo was too interested in watching the basketball game to really even look the guys in they eyes. He had no idea what he was doing.

Dan's original post referred to the situation as a "possible" violation when he started the thread on the message board.

Notre Dame thought it may have been a violation when it first occurred as well (also realizing Te'o was baited into a response by Dick Vitale, albeit unintentional) which is what caused them to review the situation and send out a release via the compliance office saying no recruiting violation.
BGI generally doesn't get into the practice of muckraking. Consider the source before assuming the worst about intent. Pretty sure most of these guys are ND grads, including Dan.
It was a valid concern to be raised, and reasonable thread to be started. Ask any compliance person if you don't think so.
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....

I can say with 100-percent certainty that Notre Dame immediately began looking into it to be sure -- just as the compliance office did with Tyler Eifert's tweet in regards to Jaylon Smith.
Notre Dame has a track record of being all over these types of scenarios -- dating back to the extensive team meetings we had every year during fall camp when I was there with the compliance department (followed by a test) -- and this was a situation that was addressed and quickly put to bed.
I would put money down that all these posters that have issues with this topic would be the same ones posting "TOS says we have a possible infraction because of Te'o, what have you guys heard" IF this wasn't posted.
There is nothing wrong with informative posts. Just because you can't handle it for what it is, doesn't make it wrong. There was a POSSIBLE infraction, and the staff informed us of it. There was obvious reason for concern if the ND compliance office was on top of it, and I appreciate the information I receive here, as it lets me be informed about things like this rather than guessing in the dark.
This instance happened. It wasn't fabricated, and this staff was on top of it and reported the possible violation very quickly, even stating that it wasn't a major infraction (slap on the wrist).
Thanks again to the staff!
Stop guessing and wait for the facts. Your not being informative until you have facts.
The facts were reported. It was reported as a POSSIBLE violation. Is this that hard to understand? I am not sure I comprehend your point. Facts were reported. If you are arguing that it wasn't a possible violation, I would point out that the ND compliance dept. surely thought it might have been one.
Simply put, people read too much into it rather than what was reported, and then blame the messenger because they read far too much into it. So, I believe you left this behind in your post , here, you can have it back.
I'm still trying to figure out what the great debate is here. Manti made comments that raised questions in regards to secondary violations, ND Compliance even acknowledged it so Dan reports it. It's found that there was no violation so Dan reports that as well. It's this type of stuff that keeps me coming back to this site. NICE WORK DAN, I appreciate the info.
Some of you can step down off that soap box now.
Relax, no harm no foul..
