ND was not prepared in the BCS Nat. Champ. Game, the Men's and Women's Ncaa Basketball game, and the Hockey game. They laid an egg in each game. Did not put up a fight in any one of these games. I mean, what is going on here? Yes, it was great for them getting where they got, but why cannot ND win when they need to? Yes, everyone pretty much new Connecticut was due to beat ND, and Alabama to beat ND, that's why they were favored. Getting blown out in each of these games is ridiculous. Are there any other top universities that do as much as ND during the regular season, and fall apart in crunch time like ND? It seems like to me the "curse is still with ND."
I feel your frustration, but assigning cause and effect to a few events that happened to occur in the same year is wrong here.
The women's team could not hit a basket last night; that is how it goes. Sky played he heart out but made some bad decisions and did McBride - that lack of guard play doomed us.
WRT football, I still believe that Manti's hoax played on him and pulled the whole defense down - couple that with a few early calls that went against us and voila - you get a big blowout.
The men's team is just ass, sorry they are chokers (to be more gracious to our young men, it is Brey who chokes).
Hockey is hockey, just didn't play well in a one game set (which is why the NHL plays 7 games to decide who moves on).
Yes there are. Every team but the Champs. It is unfair to say that because you are not the only team left standing that you are unprepared.
Well for starters, I'd propose the fairly radical idea that you give credit to the other team. Alabama executed a well designed plan to perfection. UConn played the kind of tenacious D rarely seen outside of the Louisville men's team. When a team plays as well as they did, it's going to be a form of double jeopardy, because it will force a team to press and take it outside of its comfort zone. You could see it last night with the women. They struggled the entire game to get open looks, so even on those rare occasions when they had them, they still missed a high percentage because they were completely out of their rhythm, and the "forced shot" mentality affected shots that weren't even forced. It happens. There's nothing inherently flawed with ND athletes in big games. That's just a silly notion.

We only had maybe three players who may have started for Bama. We were simply outclassed in that game.

HEY - ND's fball/bball(men & ladies)/hockey did very well this year - not too many schools can claim the high level of representation that ND sports have shown this year. All ND's teams played and won some pretty tight contests against top notch quality teams yea it's disappointing not to GO ALL THE WAY but as a ND fan I've enjoyed this year and I'm going to give them a loud shout WAY TO GO IRISH! Let's remember these are young men/ladies who are giving us old timers something to cheer about:) GO IRISH!

Let's translate what Teddy is saying. It is easy to post on a message board. It takes a great commitment to prepare for and play the game. The honor and the true joy goes to the participant. Even as a student I never liked to talk about the team as "we" or "us". One of my freshman roommates played football. The commitment that he made and the effort he exerted was to be lauded. I sat in the stands and cheered. It is just not the same.
