5 Time POTW--Gringo Mafia Director of Guerrilla Warfare
I'm going with D. J. Foust
Thats not a choice but I'll accept that answer
I'm leaning more torwards Davies. Willingham was kind of shafted after only 3 years, and Weis however badly he performed did run the play that the kid called. I have a soft spot for sick kids, that's his saving grace. i still think Davies is an idiot to this day. Wish him luck at New Mexico or wheever he ended up though
I have a soft spot for sick kids too but his arrogance cancels that out for me. I would have to say all three were in over their heads. To pick one is tough but I guess I would say Davie.
3 time POTW
Sorry but no person named Davies ever coached the Irish. A man named Bob Davie, however, did coach the Irish and he stunk. Please know the names of the coaches if you want your posts to be taken seriously.
3 time POTW;
While you are correct, I believe you were a bit harsh. i don't like your tone sir
Wow that was pretty harsh...only professional posters here. Davie was horrible plural or not singular. A lazy recruiter.
Willingham by a landslide!
Ty by far in my opinion.
Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
I have a hard time putting Weis in this conversation because no one can ever fault him for a lack of effort. The guy harder than both Ty and Davie combined... he just didnt' have the knowledge needed to be a good 'head coach'. Sad to say it, but ND was actually a better football team and program when he left than when he got there, and you can't say that for the other two guys.
I think that George O'Leary was the worst because if he hadn't lied, we wouldn't be having this conversation, IMO.

Ty for me. After first recruiting year, which fell into his lap, he thought all recruiting was going to be that way, and the program started a landslide. Some quality, no depth, for years.
Weis started the turnaround, but had crappy chemistry with his Staff, and didn't "get" 18-year olds.
BK is going to finish the turnaround.

I agree with the previous thought. Willingham sinks to the bottom. He combined completely disorganized coaching with his need to favor golf over recruiting. Davie was merely a bad coach. Weis is not down to their level and does not belong in this argument.
I could see Charlie succeeding at Kansas. His arrogance prevented him from coaching college kids at ND. He coached his players as if they were professionals and did not develop either fundamentals or depth. He is a bright and organized person, so I anticipate that this will change.
Ty showed and Washington and Davie will undoubtedly (at least I have no doubt) will show that he cannot be the head coach of a college football team. Davie will, however, pull in some talent. As a result, Ty is the biggest loser.

Ty without question.
Willingham without even needing to think about it. At least the other two guys recruited more than one class with talent.
My luck w/the Irish 20-6...GO IRISH!!!
Ty. And I while I agree that Weis needed to go, he also doesn't belong in this conversation.
I liked Ty but he was going nowhere with this program and was the worst recruiter I have ever seen and it was getting worse every season. However I have never been a fan of Boob Davie for whatever reason. He's always been the worst imo of those 3. I can't exactly explain why.
Who had the best handicap?
Willingham by far
POTW 11/9 to 11/15/2010
