I see the coaches are set on getting the same size offensive linemen. All in the 300 pnd range. I would think they need to start getting offensive linemen in the 320-330 pnd range. These tall slender 300 pounders cannot get it done when it comes to the power running game. Against good competition anyway. The group coming in for 2013 seem to all fall in this range of tall 300 pounders. Let's hope they can put on 20-30 pnd. each, which they should be able to. They seem they need to get more powerful too. Would like some feedback on this situation. Thanks
Well if they're 300 pounds now and have big frames, it stands to reason they can and will get bigger.
A super high percentage of OL that are much over 300 in HS carry "bad weight". BK and company are selecting nimble athhletes with the right frames to hold good weight that they can gain successfully while supervised by Longo and his team.
We want athletes on that OLine, not a group full of Sam Young's and Chris Stewart's...who bless all their efforts, were out of shape and could not finish a game at full strength.
Quick feet, long arms, great frames, hard working attitudes.
Marcus you nailed it. Could not agree more. Plus with Elmer coming in at 305-315 and Montelus at 305, I'm sure they will both be around 320 and in shape
And they won't gain any weight once they enroll...
