Depleted DL vs Stanford compared to healthy DL vs Stanford

  • I want to hear everyone's thoughts on whether the game would have been different had KLM and Tuitt played in this game? I know it is "ifs and buts" but should be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter.

I think it would have made a big difference! I think the DL play went down a notch when KLM went down. Tuitt not playing really hurt. Outside of Lynch, Nix, EJ the DL is undersized.

  • Perhaps. Frankly, I'd like to know what would happen if Hendrix had played all game.

  • I actually thought the real players on the dline were Lynch and Nix and that's it. I think those two have already passed EJ. And that is not knocking him it is praise for the other two. Then everyone else was alright. I do see #58 flying around alot. As he gains size he is going to be a very good one.

  • We could have had people-kicking Suh on the D-Line and still lost. We only scored one touchdown until a relatively meaningless, garbage-time TD against a no-prevent defense. The only possible equalizer would have been to trade quarterbacks.

  • It may have been different. Of course, it may have been different the other way if Stanford wasn't without their best WR and best defensive player.

  • No. Not when Stanford was missing starters from it's front 7 as well, including their best defensive player, Shane Skov. When you get into November every team is injured and missing starters so you can't use it as an excuse or to play the "what if" game.

My luck w/the Irish 18-6...GO IRISH!!!

Yes you can because this is America and we are full of excuses!

I think the Defense played well. The pass rush was limited and I don't think EJ is healthy. He didn't play most of the First Half and lacked his usual first burst. Also the lack of KLM and Tuitt limited the versatility of the line so less stunting and less movement allowing them to be more productive on the run and less pressure on Luck.

That said Stanford scored the fewest points they had all year including games against Oregon, USC and Cal and I don't know what the numbers were but there yardage in the 2nd half was not great.

Again we killed ourselves on Offense with TOs, 3rd down drops and drive killing penalties - Sloppy.

  • We win! Stanford has trouble with mobile quarterbacks.

I don't think it would have made that much of a difference. The offense was the problem. Lack of discipline and poor execution the whole first half was the main issue. I agree with IFR. What if Hendrix's was in the whole game. He kept the Stanford offense off the field and gave our defense a fighting chance.
