To update quickly: a Notre Dame spokesman confirmed this afternoon that Jones will take over as the Director of Player Development and Engagement. The press release said he will be in charge of intellectual development, social development and spiritual development.

No. This is a new position created for Jones. It's a role that Kelly brought with him, not something Notre Dame has done previously. David Grimes last year was the closest to this role in serving as a liaison between players and the coaches and other support staff for the program.

Wow, yet another impressive hire by Kelly.Oberlin, Alcorn State and Buffalo - plus he sued a former employer, always a good indicator when checking background of prospective employees! He must really know "championship" football. He can also help the ND student athletes based upon the academic rigor at Cincy he had to deal with.

Not sure what your sources are JLirish1, but the men coached together and this is just another way for ND and the coaches to set themselves apart from other programs. It's a great move and I'm sure it will pay dividends in our recruiting efforts.

Especially after this, I can't imagine it's great. I'm gonna love seeing Urban hire Quinn in like 2 years. I could see that happening just because it would be retarded.
