ESPN is doing an interesting survey on who had the five greatest individual seasons in college football the past 50 years. At No. 5 was Florida's Tim Tebow. My top three would include Cam Newton (2010), Vince Young (2005) and Herschel Walker (1980) for the way they put the team on their backs en route to a national title.
What would you classify as the greatest individual season you saw from a Notre Dame player. This shouldn't be about just eye-popping stats, but the way someone impacted an overall program to become a winner — something like Huarte/Snow coming out of nowhere to help improve the Irish from 2-7 to 9-1, with Huarte winning the Heisman and Snow finishing 5th.
Just for pure electricity, I think of Reggie Brooks in 1992, or Rocket in 1990, for starters.
