Floyd, the draft and Todd McShay

  • Head Todd McShay ( I know, I know, McShay and espn) say that he has some doubts about Floyd because he is a little stiff. I am not sure what McShay meant by that. But, In truth, Michael does have a unique running style which is, honestly, a little stiff. Also, he doesn't have track speed, but, his size, strength, competitiveness in going for the ball, and great hands will make him a really good NFL receiver. Will he go high in the draft or will he be a big name who will fall on draft day ? And, how do you think that he will do in the NFL ?

  • I watched Floyd on ESPN's all star challenge this past weekend and he didn't look stiff at all and showed some pretty good speed. If he doesn't go in the first round I would be very very surprised.

I love Floyd. He has great ball skills, size and hands. He is also a very good blocker. The lack of top end speed does not bother me, nor does the "character issues" that ESPN likes to talk about. He is a quality human being and teammate. Made a couple bad alcohol influenced decisions. Who hasn’t? My flag on MF is his health. He has not been able to stay together for a complete season. That is my only concern with Floyd and the NFL. The guy is a #1 NFL wide out and a nightmare for DBs. I think he will go anywhere from 15-25 in round 1 and be a steal at that point in the draft. I know a team picking #19 in need of a player like MF...

McShay is considered to be an arrogant a$$hole by those in NFL circles. He's the least respected analyst around and NFL GM's laugh at his "evaluations." They say he does more harm than good because college players listen to his projections that are way off base.

I would consider last year a pretty healthy year considering he started and finished every game except for the 4th quarter of the last game. Year before he missed Navy but that was it. Health concerns IMO have been put aside. As for his speed if he runs anything 4.6 and under I think that is just fine considering his size.

  • Here's all I'll say about Todd McShay...he absolutely hates Notre Dame with every bone in his body and will never, EVER bring himself to say anything good about an ND player. Notice how he doubted Jimmy Clausen's ability (while Kiper loved him) and now he doubts Floyd (while, suprise, Kiper loves him). McShay's hatred of ND runs VERY deep.

  • Mcshay is a Butt and so is Mark May. Clausen would have done better but the Panthers sucked. Steve Smith was injured the offensive line was injured. They had no tight end and John Fox was a lame duck coach. I live in Charlotte so I saw it first hand last year. But it's too late now for Clausen Because of Newton. I think Clausen had a pretty good career with Notre Dame

  • Floyd's measurables are NFL caliber - he's a very strong WR. His blocking skills are pretty darn good - he's NOT a selfish player. He stays healthy - he'll do just fine:) GO IRISH!!
