Johnny football 1-2 vs ranked teams... He's fun player to watch but under .500 against ranked opponents should have been a deal breaker.

As for his numbers... There are 4 or 5 big 12 qbs in recent years who set all-time passing records in yards and tds and werent even invited to new York.

Whatever its over, heisman award has lost a lot of its luster to me now its just a ESPN darling award imop.

Agreed. Not to mention he wasn't even in the top 3 rated QBs in his own conference. The fact that his numbers, while impressive, were compiled against two 1-AA schools and two other non BCS teams (SMU, LT)- that's 33% of A&M's schedule, also diminishes them. Simply stated, if McCarron throws a TD instead of the INT at the goalline to beat A&M, Manti wins the Heisman.

Loved that article. I have a son who is a junior in high school and want him desperately to just visit ND. He is not into sports in part due to the arrogance of most athletes at his private school. He wants to be a mechanical engineer and is a whiz at calculus and chemistry. I think he would fall in love with the people and the place. Maybe this spring.

If only reporters that work the beat every single day could get that kind of access.
