For those of us attending the WF game..........

  • Please be fired up for the player's procession from the Gug to the stadium. I have attended all the home games this year, and the walk to the stadium during the Pitt game was like the Bataan Death March. It was embarrassing! I am not saying that is what caused the players to play way below their abilities on the field, but come on! This is ND. We are now 10 - 0 and we are seeing the last home game for Te'o, Toma, KLM, Goodman, etc. Please do not let the same group of silent, picture takers dominate the scene. If you are there, REPRE-freakin'-SENT!

    GO IRISH!!!!!!

  • I won't be there but I'll be there in spirit and you should be able to hear me from up the road.

  • Tlud,

Have to say I agree -- I took my 10-year old out there for it before the BYU game and even he was a little disappointed. First the front row was full of adults wanting to take pictures as you noted, not even slapping fives with the players as they walked through, while he and other kids under 5-ft tall were on their tippy toes in the back just trying to get a peek because no one would let them come up to the front.

I can remember turning that corner (different route from church) when I was on the team where you'd get your first glimpse of the stadium and it felt like the crowd would just erupt as its team was making its way in.

Like you said -- I don't feel it's a reflection of how the team performs -- but it doesn't hurt feeling that type of crowd support on the way in as a reminder of why they wanted to wear the blue and gold.

And for the recruitniks, yes the prospects take notice of "the walk" if it's hype and want to be part of it.

I have a question for you. I notice they change the time for the walk during the pitt game( i was in nashville for bears game did not go), my question is what time will the walk occur.

  • I will be there and will do what I can to get the crowd going. I attended the Michigan game this year and it was awesome. I am really fired up to be at this game. See irish go 11-0, Senior Day and Military Appreciation day. How can you beat that?

They came through at about 1:30, which was 15 to 20 minutes earlier than what that had been doing. Maybe because it was cooler they wanted to get the player's more warm-up time, but the walk was packed with fans. They were just silent, and I mean dead silent. My best guess is to get there about 1:20 0r earlier to be safe.

  • Thanks for the info on timing. My daughter and I will be there and we'll be loud.

  • What happened to the walk? Last time I actually went to it a few years ago, it was at least 5-10 people deep the entire way and extremely loud and boisterous. Has the new route somehow diminished everything? The reason I don't go watch is because of the chaos.
