Friday Night Lights the Series Finale

  • How many people will be watching Friday Night Lights this coming Friday when the series comes to an end,for 5 years they've done a good job with the program ,I don't think they out run their time line compared to other shows that hang on forever.

  • Great show and I'm really going to miss it. Being a DirecTV customer, I was able to watch the final season a few months ago, so I don't want to spoil the ending. I just wish Minka Kelly stayed on the show longer.

  • I also saw season 5 when it aired on DirecTV, but I'm currently in the process of re-watching it on Netflix. It is definitely one of the best TV series ever, in my opinion... One of just a handful that I'll probably purchase eventually. And for any of your wives who might argue that "it's a football show," I have two words: Tim Riggins. The show transcends football but somehow still manages to have all those feel-good and/or gut-wrenching sports moments at the same time. So, so good.

  • I've watched all 5 seasons of it, wish didn't have to end. Seeing how this season is going it seems like there could be one real good season left in there, but as they say all good things must come to an end

  • Our family will miss it. We watched it, almost religiously, for its entire run. That being said...we think it "jumped the shark" with some of the storylines this year...(i.e. Julie & the Asst Prof).

    Point Fan

  • Only really bad story line of the series was the murder cover up from like season 2, luckily they refocused because its a great show and very well acted. The Julie storyline this year wasn't the strongest, but it was far from jumping the shark

  • Not a direct tv customer and I watch the show, so tomorrow’s finale will be new to me. I agree with the people who have said its one of the best shows on tv. There is one minor thing that has really irked me this season, and I want to know if it bothers other fans of the show. (Note: If you plan on watching the show or are catching up and only on season 3 this is a Spoiler)

One of the major conflicts of season 3 was Coach Taylor dealing with Joe McCoy, the father of superstar freshman QB JD McCoy, and with Wade Aikman, JD’s personal QB coach. The end result is Wade Aikman gets the head coaching job and Coach Taylor goes to East Dillon. We see these characters throughout season 4 and the season finale has East Dillon playing against West Dillon and JD McCoy. Season 5 rolls around and McCoy and Aikman are nowhere to be found and never mentioned, not even when the Lions play West Dillon. I understand this is TV and this stuff happens on shows all the time. I also know this is a show where about 80% of all high school football games come down to the last second and I’m pretty sure Riggins and Lyla had 3 senior years. I never let any of that effect my enjoyment of the show, but for some reason the disappearance of the JD McCoy and Wade Aikman really annoys me. Thank you for letter me get that off my chest. Thoughts?

I think its just a matter of last year being the transition year of West Dillon to East Dillon so they need to have some crossover, but this year was all about the Lions. Especially with the limited amount of episodes they didn't want to waste time on that story any more, not much else they could have done with it.

  • One of the best shows on television and it is a shame it will be gone. I own all five seasons on DVD. Not only was it on Direct TV, but they released the DVD months ago.
