Friday the 13th superstitions

  • All right, it's Friday the 13th (for the second time this year I believe), the most superstitious date on the calendar. So I think it's a good time to talk about your own superstitions. Who's got a lucky pre-game routine for Saturdays?

  • Not watching Della Reese for the whole season no matter what. Listening to Here come the Irish in the morning and bringing a printed roster to NilesIrish's house or at home. I don't stop drinking on an odd number all the time anyway but I really stay focused on that on game day. If Hodges is around I give him one piggy back ride and then its back in my pocket. If IY is around then I stare at his wife's picture for no more then 7 minutes and i have I have to go to the 5th porta potty from the south. If Milosh is around he has to text me at least 3 off beat jokes. If 2Dan is in town we gotta hug for no more then 8 seconds and if I get to go to the game then NilesIrish and Pops has to have trouble with the tv reception and the oil for the fish has to be too hot at first, oh and there always seems to be a visiting fan sitting within two seats from me. 60% of the time this works all the time.

    Well my green Brady Quinn jersey usually gets put on at around 9. After a couple cups of coffee ( the second one of which is spiced up rather nicely ) and college gameday it's time to get into the Guiness, usually around 11. WhiIe watching gameday I check my college pick em' games for the week and agonize over the one I always have trouble picking. Change my answer then change it again 5 minutes later. ( this continues until about 3 minutes before the deadline ). Then I will flip between games until ND kickoff and proceed to absolutely ignore everything else short of the second coming. Then depending on the outcome of the game I will either stay parked in front of the TV or be so irritated I can't sit still. If I have Saturday off you can almost bet money this will be exactly what I'm doing

    Any of the superstitions I USED to have got thrown out the window by 2009. Now I am very superstitious about not having any superstitions.

  • In the last few years, longer actually, i have also tried so many old and new superstitions and nothing works. Its amazing how winning makes it easier to have superstitions,lol.

    First time POTW for 4/18/2011-4/24/2011.
