Fuller Flips To Notre Dame

Curious what this does for Hunter Jr. I thought we only wanted one more WR in this class. Don't think we would turn him away but I know we are close to a full class. Can't say I remember that being the case in August before.

Glad to have him! If Coach Kelly and crew feel he is worthy, it's all good with me...But, just last week he tweeted he is "100% committed to PSU", so wake me in February.

Amen to that. A lot can happen from now until Feb. If the team doesn't win this year expect some to jump off the ND bandwagon.

Saw that.. Based on Kelly & Co. recruiting versatility as well as athleticism, I'm guessing it depends on how Russell plays out and how the rest of the '13 class fills in. I think we have a good shot at Moore and if you add him to Butler, Kinlaw, and Russell? then we have some very good young CBs. If we get Hunter and no more dedicated CBs? then I guess Fuller gets a look. There is no downside to any of this. Great kids all. Hope we get all of 'em!

He is 17! He won't see the ND field for probably 2 years.. Nobody is rocket fast in shoulder pads..

If this were 10 years ago you would have benignly read the recruiting wrap-up story in Blue and Gold Illustrated's March '13 paper issue and thought we got a good one because he ran a 4.4 and had great high school statistics.

What about all the coaches at top programs throughout the country? Their jobs depend on recruiting and developing talent as well. You can certainly argue that every commitment is wonderful if you want. The truth is that there are players in every class who will not contribute. That is an absolute certainty whether you are a fan or not.

No one is going to load up with 5 star talent at one position. Think about your stat class, only a very few athletes are far better than everyone else. Any kid with 4 stars is in a group that is very difficult to rank. Scouts look for some excuse to come up with their list. It ain't Sheldon's physics.
In BK's offense it is a huge advantage to have a bunch of guys who can run like hell and catch the ball, expecially at the X receiver. Send them deep on every play, take a corner and safety with them, open up the field, and put the corner and safety in oxygen debt.
I heard Joel Klatt say this on a Denver sports radio show the other day: get on a treadmill and get your pulse up to 140 or 150 then stop and try to read something. It is amazing what cardiovascular stress does to a player's cognitive capacity.
In other words, receivers can run corners and safeties into physical fatigue and mental confusion. And we all have heard that fatigue makes cowards of us all (VL).
ND has receivers and backs and an OL. What ND needs is a QB (maybe two since they will be asked to run) and Kelly sounds optimistic.

Some 4 and 5 stars go down and some 3 and 4 stars goes up. It may take a year or two of college preparation, but the cream will rise. And as so many have said, speed in the skill positions is a difference maker and can't be coached.
