  • In all my years of following ND football, since the days of Terry Hanratty, ND has always struggled with inexperience at QB.Kelly is in a difficult position untill the position matures. The position will eventually mature, whether its with TR or someone else. TR showed flashes of brilliance. CW had some nice runs. MF is MF.the best receiver to play at the university. Just have to get that first win to get the monkey off their backs.

  • The problem, as I see it, is that by the time you have maturity at QB, you may not have the supporting cast to make it work. I can't imagine Notre Dame will be a deeper team, talent-wise, next season than this one. This was the opportunity. Assuming all of this year's commits stick, and that's a HUGE assumption right now, the team is probably two years away from being in a position to be as well-off in terms of personnel as this season.

  • I see your point. I hate to see MF waste his final season at Notre Dame. The problem with ND has been hiring coaches who had no busuness coaching at ND.ND wanted a top tier program with only a middle or bottom tier coach, They thought the ND brand would sell itself. They were complacent and got out hustled by other programs. History is beginning to prove CW was maybe a good recruiter of offensive talent, but looking at special teams and the defensive secondary ND is thin. IMO CW hurt ND as much as he helped ND as far as recruiting. ND needs to focus more on defense in this recruiting cycle. They need to develop more than one QB.
