Mike Rosenthal is now the head coach at Austin High School in Austin, Texas. A couple of years ago, one of Austin High's best players and a friend of mine tragically took his own life. In honor of his memory, an annual flag football tournament takes place every December. There must have been about 300 people there and some top notch talent with the likes of Emory Blake and 5* Caleb Jones. We ended up losing to the UT baseball team.
I introduced myself to Coach Rosenthal and we talked ND football for about ten minutes. I was impressed by how nice and personable he was. He, like every body else, likes what Kelly is doing with the program. He said he was most impressed by how genuinely nice coach Kelly is compared to other coaches. Anyways, just thought I'd share my little ND experience with you fellas.

At the risk of sounding stupid (I met Rosenthal also), I could not believe how big that dude was, LOL. I'm 6'3 260, he made me feel small. Not as big as the late Wally Kleine, but still one of the bigger players I've ever met.

The guy was a monster. I'm only 5' 7'' so I was definitely looking waaayy up. He might have been wider than I am tall.
I am from South Bend, and I still haven't seen anyone as big as Mike Rosenthal. He was an absolute BEAST. Nice to see local kids like him and Cave do well at ND. Even if they did graduate from Penn (just threw up in my mouth a bit)

One of my friends at Texas Tech went to Penn with Braxston Cave. Why he chose Texas Tech from all the way in Indiana beats me.
I grew up with Mike before he moved to Indiana. Super nice guy, and as large as you say. I swam with him when we were kids and he had to bring his birth certificate with him to meets to prove he was swimming in the right age group. Ironically, his parents and brothers are pretty average sized. We were at ND together where he was still just as nice and personable. Great guy. Thanks for posting.
