No. 2 Notre Dame (28-1, 16-0 in Big East) faces South Florida (21-9, 9-7) Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPNU in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament — an event the Irish have never won. USF defeated Rutgers on Saturday, 42-39 to advance to the next round. The Irish had a double-bye in the tourney.
On Jan. 8, Notre Dame needed overtime to defeat the Bulls 75-71 in Tampa. That game three days after an extremely hard fought 73-72 win at then No. 1 UConn.
Ironcially, the Irish will play USF again after another thriller versus UConn, a triple-overtime victory last Monday night.
