Notre Dame freshman Matt Kavanagh scored an overtime goal to finish a 10-9 win over No. 8 Penn State Sunday.
The team's combined to score three goals in the final 24 seconds of regulation. Attackman Conor Doyle scored to the tie the game late. Six seconds later junior Liam O'Connor got his second goal of the game to give the Irish a 9-8 lead. Penn State scored with one second left on the clock to send it to overtime.

Kavanagh, a highly-touted recruit, is off to a great start to his college career. He is second on the team with five goals and an assist after two games. Before the season started, head coach Kevin Corrigan said he expected Kavanagh to be the type of player that could have an impact right away.
Notre Dame hosts its first regular season home game next Saturday against No. 9 North Carolina.
