It seems like just yesterday....

  • hordes of posters here were convinced that Harrison Smith was the worst safety ever to don a Notre Dame uniform. Yes, he struggled, but he also gave evidence of athleticism, and many of the mistakes he made were mental, the kind that someone can grow out of. He clearly has.

Probably not a bad idea if we keep that mind when we start to speak "authoritatively" about some player's shortcomings. Yeah, someone might have a bad game (see Jonas Gray, game one) or just not getting the job done at the moment, but be cautious about writing them off altogether. I know this is a hard concept for some people to wrap their heads around, but the coaches aren't complete idiots.

  • It's the same thing every year Ham. Everyone here is dying for this team to be 3-0, but you are what you are.

This team is a work in progress. I won't throw any player under the bus because I've realized that Kelly can flat out develop talent. Look how well Harrison Smith played. Look how well Zeke Motta has been playing. Jonas Gray is actually playing like the 5* recruit that he was.

This team is a work in progress, but the progress is definitley trending up.
