Just my opinion

  • I hope that at least in my lifetime, I never see the Notre dame Football team in a conference. I have a lot of reasons, but wil keep them to myself.

    Thye University of Notre Dame is in a league all by itself, so lets keep them there.

  • I agree also FC. Sadly though some thing's maybe coming up out of our control & ND will be forced to join a conference here shortly. I hope i'm wrong.

  • I love having our independant status. Scheduling whomever we want. Taking on all comers. Playing all over the country (now around the world). The time might come for ND to join a conference because of the BCS forcing them to. ACC probably makes the most sense with the smaller school sizes and the overall academics. I would definitely prefer the B1G, just because that is where I am located and it would be nice for all my B1G fans to eat crow. If a conference is where we are headed, then I am sure I will get over it, as well as I am sure you all will too. I guess we will just have to start hanging Conference Championship banners all over the place.

  • The time has come in the football landscape for Notre Dame to join a conference.. Despite the tradition as an Independent, that isn't going to be possible with the playoff/super conference landscape.

    I know many of you aren't for this, but I am (to the ACC). You can say the Big Ten makes more sense because of the location, and you'd be right, but I prefer the ACC because it keeps us national (both playing games and in the recruiting game), it gives us rivalries with academic, private schools such as ourselves, and it gives us the best opportunity IMHO.

    We have had a tradition of being Independent, but that doesn't mean we can't build a tradition going forward of being the elite team in the ACC. Just because that happens doesn't mean Notre Dame' Independent past will be forgotten. It's time to move forward along with the rest of football.

    I don't agree. The time has come to join a conference. I prefer the ACC. I have lots of reasons as well, and have posted them often, but I will spare everyone from having to read them again. I will say this though: I don't want to see another schedule like the one we have this year. It is football suicide or arrogance incarnate.
