...another post regarding the spring game!
Ok, no down-votes, I know we don't actually "need" one per se but I'm going to give a philosophical approach, based largely on the fact that I'm old...
Based on what I saw the Irish will develope into a very good football team. This isn't predicated on any one decided athletic advantage, although that bar has clearly been raised. Nope, my conclusion is based mostly on attitudes. I witnessed a team full of players that mentally was in the fine tuning phase of their game. Don't get me wrong, they have perfected nothing to date, its too early for that, but they knew exactly what was being missed.
Players were working with players as never before. Golson on his pick near the end-zone discussed it with GA III. I have no inside information but I suspect he told him "don't break off the route next time"...Carlo helped "remind" GAIII that he might want to consider lowering his pads when running in a congested area.
The team is able to do this because CBK has let them know it is OK. There is minimal drama this year, Kona isn't "pushing" Nix (well played coach, well played), EG is our man, Tuitt, well, Tuitt is just Tuitt. And while our incoming freshmen will help "challenge" in practice, which ultimately will benefit all, we have our guys and for the most part they know who they are, and they WANT to be here and play. This is what good teams do to become very good teams, and what very good teams do to become great.
