  • So what does qualify as bad news if this isn't?
    I'm not chicken little but if we are supposed to be on our way with competing with big time teams then how do we do it without big time talent.
    Our recruiting classes are subpar in my opinion. Maybe comparable to a Louisville or other top 20 recruiting class.
    We do not recruit size and speed the way we should.
    I love this coaching staff but we gotta start signing Vandergoes (or whatever) on a regular basis. Not just hoping to get one once in awhile but expecting it.
    Period end of declarative sentance.

    I'm shutting myself down for the next few months.
    Better and much more fun things I can be thinking about

    Easy, folks, take the emotion out of it. Lets take it a step at a time. How about we focus on what happens with Kelly first; if he stays, there's opportunities to replace AA. If Kelly leaves, the majority of the class stays intact (you all read the thread with commit reactions). Lets be right, not first. That's the blessing and curse of twitter; for example, I don't think anyone knows if Kelly is even in the country or not.

    I know, I know, the optics don't look good, but we don't have the info yet; what exactly does "he had an interview" mean. Did he literally sit down with the team? OR did his agent take a call and say "you know, he might be interested, let me get back to you?" Philly is interviewing Lovie Smith today. So clearly they didn't offer him the job.

    Before folks start melting down about the situation, I ask you not to go all Les Miles on the kid. Folks here were cracking on the Hatter for his "Chesty" comments because we got the kid we wanted. This kid chose a different school; let him go. We've seen how it works out for the kids who never go all in on ND anyway.

    Best of luck AA; you could've done great things here, but I hope you do great things anyway.

    I don't expect folks to agree with these sentiments re: Kelly, but at least move on from the kid and focus on whos available, not who left...lynchmob

    This kid didn't want to be here in the first place. Highly doubt that the rumors on BK had anything to do with AA bailing, but given AA's penchant for being wishy washy in his convictions, I don't doubt for a second he gives it as a reason and puts the heat on someone else.

    This class has seemed like one of the most cohesive bunches in memory. Their reaction isn't surprising.

  • Jason, any initial thoughts on who the staff will start recruiting to replace him? Will they go after another ILB, or just stick with the guys they have/are already recruiting and move someone inside? I know you've said that there was nothing really happening with Hutchings, but I would LOVE it if we'd get involved now. He's a versatile guy who can play OLB or ILB, or even S.

  • Well i'm done. I'll check in after signing day to find out who the coach is and who ultimately signed. But i doubt i'll be able to insulate myself from it because it will be running across the bottom of my tv screen while i watch the playoffs
