Losing Rees experience really hurts

  • I know most on here are not that upset about the whole situation other than the bad publicity. My opinion was that Golson was going to be the starter anyway but not having Rees's experience is a big loss...that's the worst part for me..

It's definitely not a popular topic but it may come back to haunt us more than most are willing to see.

That is awful. You clearly have no idea how high level football is played. You can keep Noodle arm and his turnovers. He is worthless and was ruining the team. Get a clue.

  • Yes he showed great experiance getting busted. But why run and struggle with the police that shows everyone your experiance.

Run the ball. Stop the run. You win, or lose, up front.

  • I agree Duquense and Jason so I'll join you two as not knowing anything about big time football as mhealy seems to dream.......to not want that experience on the team is simply silly.

Mhealy, I'd like to think that 12 years playing the game and coaching it another 10 has allowed me to formulate an educated opinion ....until you corrected me. Thanks for the clue, really appreciate it.

Here is one for you, if you think NOT having a guy with 16 starts under his belt in pressure situations on your bench ....just In case one of the other kids gets hurt or struggles then it is you who needs to get a clue about having depth at "high level" football.

Also I shudder to ask you how Rees was "ruining" the team...he simply practiced and played as hard as he could...I mean he didn't start himself.

I was on the Golson bandwagon LAST spring game but I'm not privy to all that goes on throughout the year..I trust that Brian Kelly knows more than I do....maybe not more than you.

Rees was stupid but so are a lot of teenagers...some die because of their mistakes...let's not make this thing bigger than it is.

  • I don't think the team is better or worse for having or not having Rees whatever might happen.

Rees isn't the guy to return ND to the top levels of College football I think most agree to that. Definitely not Rees' fault, IMO he maximizes his skill set, but it isn't enough.

With that said, I don't know him well enough to proclaim that at least on the sideline he provides some type of inspiring leadership, don't know that he doesn't just don't know. On the surface, he doesn't strike me as a leader of men, so I don't know what if any value he adds on the sideline. Yes, has experience but he could also have a stigma as well, I don't know what the team attitude toward Tommy....

But assuming he has some value just b/c he has been there, while a safe bet is by no means a guarantee.

It's hard for me to fathom that this is even an issue. Ask any coach in the country if they have one quarterback on the roster with sixteen games starting experience and no one else with any -- would they want to keep the kid on the roster or not? They would look at you like you're an idiot for even asking the question.
