Love 247 and Respect the Rankings

  • but Steve Elmer dropping to 106 nationally is absurd! The kid is one of the top OT in the country and inexplicably he keeps dropping. Honestly I could understand if Bivin dropped but not Elmer. Not knocking Bivin just know that Bivin is considered by some respected analysts to be a tad overrated. I just don't get the drop at all!

Especially considering Kyle Bosch is still sitting up at #42 overall! confused. I trust the ND coaching staff's evaluations over any recruiting service. Not knocking Bosch as he's a legit prospect but not better than Elmer. no

And I just now noticed that Latham is still rated at #58 headslap

The general sense is that Elmer doesn't play with that mean streak you'd like to see from OL. Think you are wrong about Bivin. He's my favorite OL recruit in this class. I've yet to see McGlinchey's film. I think McGovern and Bivin's film both show their ability to hit that second level and lay wood on defenders. I was really impressed with McGoverns ability to block 10-15 yards downfield. They both finish blocks extremely well and play with that nastiness you like to see from OL. Reminiscent of Jeff Faine. I need to watch Steven's film again.

  • Elmer seemed plenty tough when he went against the kid that signed with UM (Godin I believe) and tossed him around, as a sophomore and in shorts! If I remember correctly, Godin was so frustrated he even gave Elmer a prick push after the whistle.

I'll patiently wait for 247's explanation, but this is one of the more confusing drops. Its been said Elmer struggles with speed rushers, but what Jr in high school wouldn't considering the competition, and the fact they are playing without pads?

rediculous.....this same "mean streak" crap was spewed forth by clueless people about Jake Long years ago at Michigan too

  • Rankings are often incorrect. How many times have we seen 5 star recruits who never turn out. Or, a three star who becomes a great college star. Kids mature at diffenet "rates".

  • I think the ratings drop with just push him to be that much more intense.
