It's posts like these that are my biggest problem with our fan base. I bet you celebrated Amir Carlisle being granted a "hardship" waiver???

It is public knowledge Carlisle left a team serving NCAA penalty,

with many of his teammates automatically eligible to transfer

without sitting, no hardship waiver required.

And his father moved to Indiana.

We do not know if there was additional information in his request.

  • There is no way he should receive a waiver. He had no hardship and he never pretended to have one during his decision making process so anything now is I'm sure not worthy enough or just falsified. The points on Spencer Boyd are spot on, and a perfect reason. Compared to Carlisle leaving an NCAA sanctioned USC program, this is apples to oranges.

Now I agree with everyone saying it makes no matter to ND since we don't play USF and we should wish him the best...but I think it's vital he doesn't get a waiver granted due to the precedent. If a 5-star, FR All-American is allowed to transfer programs due to weather, homesickness, and a girlfriend while the NCAA doesn't enforce the 1 year sitout it's going to be extremely damaging to cold weather schools, non-power programs, and the already thin guise of amateurism. Give the kids hardship waivers for sick family, financial or personal matters, or even add a new one for unexpected coaching defections like Graham at Pitt. Not for, I changed my mind and don't like my college/college town

He was a freshman he was not eligible for an automatic transfer. That was only eligible to Juniors and Seniors effected by the 2 year bowl ban. Carlisle had to request and was awarded a hardship waiver. There is no hardship for Amir's dad moving to take a great job at Purdue. USC could have blocked Carlisle's transfer to ND just as they blocked Prater from having ND as an option.

Sorry, but I dont buy that excuse. If being near his family was the issue, Carlisle should have went to Purdue. Lafayette is literally 2.5 hours away. He never should have gotten the waiver under those circumstances, and since the NCAA is practically handing out waivers, Lynch should get one too. Im not upset Carlisle got one, but the NCAA should (though they never are) be consistent.

No, it doesn't matter whether one buys the excuse--the point is at least he had one. Lynch doesn't. Literally has no excuse but wants to play anyway.

If the NCAA wants to make a mockery of itself then it can grant the request.

So wanting to live in the same state as your parents is a valid excuse and wanting to be in the same city as your fiance isnt? The NCAA made a mockery of its rule by letting Calisle be immediately eligible. Lynch should be afforded the same luxury.
