Rockne's Roundtable

On another thread, I posted about the ongoing competition called
the "Nike Elite 11" and that Malik Zaire was doing fabulous. I specifically
was not trying to say he was better than a number of highly ranked
guys such as USC's Browne and Michigan's Morris. Rather, I was
simply trying to point out that Malik by his performance at this
five-day competition should rank in their company. To wit, 247
has Browne as its 3rd best player in the country and Morris as its
19th best player (not just best QBs but best players) while it
ranks Malik at player number 134.

Well, the results are in and Malik and Browne were named to
the Elite 11 team and Morris was left off the list. So much for
subjective ratings vs. on field performance.

Congratulations, Malik for a job well done, especially in the
light of the fact that the Elite 11 favors pro-style QBs, with
an accent on passing skills. Of course, Malik brings much
more than that to the table.

By the way, there were 24 QBs in the competition, winners
themselves of 11 regionals.

Maybe, just maybe, Brian can spot talent!!
