TOS has a thread about his girlfriend passing. This man is such a wonderful person that I feel genuinely sad for him and her family. I hope he gets through this and does what he needs to grieve... whatever that is I don't care.

Yeah I think it was illness too...Manti would use her twitter to give updates and stuff. She has been in the hospital a lot recently I guess.
He seems really resilient (via twitter etc...) so it's probable that this was not a surprise. Prayers go out to all of them :(

Unfortunately working in an operating room the most difficult thing I have to deal with is a young patient who is critically ill....I see things such as bone cancer depriving young people of life....I'm very sorry for Manti and the young girls family....thoughts and prayers with him and her family from the Steel City.

Wow, I just read this. How horrible. My entire practice will send out our prayers (we are all ND fans and we all love Manti). Wow, this is so shocking, so sad.

So sad. & just goes to show how you should cherish each day with your loved ones, because you never know when they will be gone. My thoughts & prayers are with her, her family & Manti.
I would not mind if he skipped the game this Saturday. Somethings are more important than football.
