"It will be an emotion I couldn't have imagined coming true," Floyd told ESPN about playing across from Fitzgerald.

I am so happy for him! I would have preferred a little better of a QB for him but still very happy.

I was, too, but held out little hope for that, so I was hoping the Bills would take him at #10 so I could have something worth paying attention to while watching their games each week. There is already some grumbling among fans that they passed on him. Frankly, I think he probably got a better deal going out to Arizona as opposed to Buffalo, especially playing opposite Fitzgerald. Now it's a matter of Kolb, or whomever, being able to get the ball to him.

A couple notes from the official Notre Dame release:

Floyd is the highest-drafted player from Notre Dame since defensive tackle Bryant Young was the seventh-overall selection by San Francisco in the 1994 draft. Floyd is the first Notre Dame wide receiver to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since Tim Brown in 1988 (sixth overall by Oakland) and is the earliest an offensive player from Notre Dame has been drafted since quarterback Rick Mirer and running back Jerome Bettis were selected with the second and 10th picks, respectively, of the 1993 draft by Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams.

Irish head coach Brian Kelly said this about Floyd in an official press release:

Michael’s work ethic and passion for football are unparalleled and fans of the Cardinals will love the productivity he’ll bring to Arizona’s offense.”

Wouldve loved to see MF3 in Chicago, but Arizona was next best spot. So glad he didn't end up in a black hole like Jacksonville.

On if this was what he was hoping for or expected:

“I just wanted to put myself in the best position possible. I know I talked to Larry [Fitzgerald], and I know he wanted me there, but you never know how this draft is going to go. I’m just excited that I get the chance to play and to be an Arizona Cardinal.”

On what he said to the Cardinals when they asked him tough questions about his off-field issues:

“I just basically told them it was a bad decision. I learned from it and I moved on. I know I can’t be like every other college student, just doing what a college student does, because the spotlight is on me. They wanted to see if I had improvements since that time, and I have. I’ve moved on.”

On how long and how well he knows WR Larry Fitzgerald:

“I’ve known him since high school. We text back and forth whenever I need some advice or anything like that, he’s there that I can contact.”

On the overall offensive talent on the Cardinals:

“I don’t know too much, but for the most part I think they have a lot of weapons on offense with Early Doucet and Larry Fitzgerald. I just think they have a lot of weapons. I believe Kevin Kolb is a great quarterback. Wherever I can fit in, I’ll just try to be productive.”
