Harrison Smith and Tommy Rees discuss "home" games in Maryland, multiple quarterbacks and giving their teammates a hard time.

  • Thanks for the updates Dan. i hope Te'o is ok and ready to go.

  • “We treat it as a business trip,” he said. “Go out there, get the job done, and come back home. There’s really not much when you’re traveling like that that makes it feel like a home game.”

Is this really the emotion you want to play a college football game, home or away?

  • 20-minute drive without absolutely any traffic. Which never happens.

Te'o taking a rest may help his back-up to better prepare. Let's hope Te'o gets healthy. He is a beast most of the time when gimpy. Formidable when healthy.

    Go Irish!

  • jtesi,
I don't mind the "We treat it as a business trip" approach. Take care of business. Don't rely so much on emotion, just do your best, take care of assignments, etc.
This sort of talk started with Weiss' professional approach, that ended up biting us in the long run.

But maybe this way avoid emotional let-downs.
    Especially against lesser opponents.
    ? Maybe?

  • We must lighten up on the players "gotcha" statements they make. Business trip? Fun trip? Exciting trip? First time in an NFL stadium? Relax, it's a college kid answering a leading question from an adult.

Similar to the coach on the sideline with stoic emotion (Willingham) or over the top emotion (Holtz)- can't win either way.

Unless the player or coach gives the opponent bulletin board material leave them alone.

  • Put them away early and play the seniors. No more key players getting hurt this week.
