Look...no one loves the NCAA....but I really think they got it right with Penn State. They delivered swift and just punishment. And the right message for EVERYONE EVERYWHERE......including here at Notre Dame....hero/program worship and winning at all cost should never replace values, responsibility and accountability.

Sad day for college sports - but a chapter we should never forget.

IrishWon - this was an extreme case and required extreme action - which the NCAA did.
If you listened to the presser - the message was really well crafted - and they repeatedly came back to the victims. The money they will take from Penn State will go directly to an endowned fund to help future abuse victims. They were clear that keeping the program rather than killing it - better directed the impact than the unintended consequences of killing the program (like a bunch of unemployed people in State College).
