Maybe it's time for the Irish to start paying attention to Johnson. Notre Dame up 41-32 with 14:49 to play.
Good hustle by Cooley to maintain possession after Grant made first free throw and missed the second. Knight hits both foul shots to give the Irish a little breathing room and a 47-36 lead with 11:42 to go.
Do they have any idea to box out?
Johnson is eating Cooley's lunch tonight.
Connaughton is locked in ... just drained his fifth triple of the night. Irish needed that one. Rutgers calls a timeout down 52-43 with 8:34 to play. Before that Cooley was called for a charge and came down hard on his right wrist and elbow. Looked like he was in quite a bit of pain. Part of that might be a bruised pride.
If Sherman could consistently catch and entry pass he'd average 10 points per game. By the time he gets control of the ball the defense is all over him.
Wally Judge was 9-of-9 for 20 points last night vs. DePaul. He is 0-of-5 for no points and has four fouls against the Irish.
Of course he scores immediately after I post that.
Too many second chances for Rutgers and no flow on offense.
Connaughton is now 6-of-8 from deep.
Uhhhh. I hate this burn crap when we actually have talent. Plus Cooley looks like garbage.
Pretty good finish for ND. Knight has a career-high 18 points.
I don't know why it's unsatisfying but I guess a wins a wins. Cooley needs to show up to win tomorrow.
Irish move on with a 69-61 victory over Rutgers. The Irish will play Marquette Thursday in the quarterfinals at 9 p.m.

Cooley hasn't been himself for a while - wasn't he under the weather playing against Marquette? ND needs him NOW! ND didn't have many TOs and played well on the boards - hopefully Pat's hot hand continues kudos to Knight. But ND has to have Atkins/Grant playing their A game against Marquette. This car isn't running on all cylinders and if they don't kick it into gear PRONTO the next one isn't looking promising. BUT ALWAYS - GO IRISH!
Cooley has not played well at all lately, he better step up. We will take the win and move on.
