Nix sees Tide as measuring stick

The Irish junior nose guard said he's looking forward to getting better by facing the talented Alabama offensive line.

    I may not be pretty, but I'm fast..... POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11

  • Reading these comments makes it VERY clear that ND WILL be ready - they're not star gazing at that #1 season finish. They want this game against Bama - let's hope that Bama BELIEVES all those press clippings about ND not being as tough as the SEC. Bama does have one thing going for them - they've been here before so ND must get through the 1st series play disciplined not be tight - loose not rigid - stay fluid AND attack attack and just HIT them - let Bama know there's the SEC AND then there's Notre Dame!! GO IRISH!!

  • I actually am not concerned about Golson this game. I am from SC and the absolute composure he displayed in the high school championship.... i feel good about this

  • Well, we either lose in a rout or it's a closely contested game decided in the fourth quarter. Personally, I keep envisioning one Bama miscue after another and ND racking up the points to rout the Tide. Who knows? Maybe dreams do come true. Go Irish

  • Has anyone watched Barrett Jones closely this year? I did in the AM and UGA games. Both those teams attacked him either head up or with slants. I never like to critique a kid harshly that we are about to play but he does not handle a big Nose Guard well. He may be the best OLineman in the country, but he sure had to have a lot of help from the guards in those two games. Now in the third Quarter of the UGA game, Bama figured it out and began double teaming the nose which allowed their RBs to get to the second level.

    I like the Nix/Jones matchup.

He has struggled. The issue with GA they have no depth on the DLine and they are also very heavy which is why they had no push at the end of the game. Tuitt demands Double teams as well. This line matchup is going to be crazy.

I think you are dead on davey. I also think our d-line gives Saban's stomach gastric nightmares.

Saban's too good a coach to not figure out how to deal with it but our d-line is going to be a problem for their o-line.

  • “Next year I’m trying to be like Manti and trying to get seven or eight of these awards. This is just the start.”

He definitely said "next year". Love it!

The SEC fans definitely believe this.
But a Saban-coached team will not.
Watch some film, and 'Bama should get some humility.
Their fans are not watching film. Needless to say.
