Notre Dame: 2012 vs. 2002

  • Lou, who is this "Willingham" you speak of? I seem to remember a "Molder" but it's been so long, the past is a mist.

  • topgome,

I do remember your famous tongue twister from eight years ago: "How much mold would a molder mold if a molder would mold mold?"

  • I think the biggest difference is depth. 2002 was similar to 2005/2006 where the upperclassmen were the difference-makers, and there was a sharp drop off after them. Clearly, Manti is the leader on D with a big assist to KLM, but there is so much top talent throughout the classes, and rotating players doesn't mean game over.

We've got offensive talent, we just need to get it producing. Looking forward to the Miami game to see some real progress.

  • illestdomer,

I will have a feature coming up soon on how the program now has established true depth. I've always said the first 15 to 20 players on that 2005 team could match up with anyone in the country. The problem was when you got to 21 to 50, that's what separated USC, Ohio State, Texas, etc. into an elite strata.
