Notre Dame-Louisville updates

  • Final: Louisville 73, Notre Dame 57

Irish, which finish the regular season with a 23-8 overall record and 11-7 mark in league play, will be a sixth seed in next week's Big East Tournament.

  • Irish will play Wednesday in NYC against the winner of the DePaul-Rutgers game.

  • Win on Wednesday, and then the Thursday matchup would be against the third seed, which would be Marquette. Georgetown gets No. 1 and Louisville No. 2.

  • ND put themselves too far behind too many times to pull this one out. Pat C had a good game BUT he missed, at least, 4 good looks for 3s and we needed those given the lack of production from Cooley/Grant. Cards full court pressure resulting in 5 inbound TOs(maybe more?) - not a good sign going into tourney time. Our front line didn't play that well today. Tourney time begins so let's hope they come out focused on a 'new' season. GO IRISH!

  • This team always runs out of gas in early March with Mike Brey as head coach. Always has excuses why they don't play well at the end of the season. So either 2 or 3 games before we can start thinking about spring practice again. Our sorry administration never thinks doing well in the post season means anything.

  • For the record Mike Brey has a record of 37 wins and 30 loses in games played in the month of March at Notre Dame.
He is 6-8 in NCAA Tournament games and has lost 2 in a row and 6 of the last 8 games. He is 8-12 in Big East Tournament games. So since the Sweet 16 appearance in 2003 the NCAA record has been very poor.

Usually the combined Big East and NCAA Tournament games in any season add up to 3. This year we will probably beat DePaul or Rutgers in the first Big East game then lose to Marquette and then get beat in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. My prediction is that Notre Dame is moving up in competition going to the ACC. That spells trouble.
