Notre Dame & ‘One Play Away’

The “one play away” mantra must be eliminated if Notre Dame is to eventually excel.

  • Good points, Lou.

As long as the coaches and players have their heads screwed on straight, all is well.

    I try to remember . . .

  • We are there, this season will be big surprise. Everyone is talking 4-5 losses but watch out, I think we will make some noise if we can come out winners in our first two games.

  • In last 15 or so years, ND simply has consistantly not made the plays at key times either offensively or defensively to win games. If one were to go back over the Ara or Lou years there are numerous games each year in which games that we won could have been defeats had it not been for a couple of plays which ND players and coaches successfully made. This has been the difference in our past success and our current mediocrity. While we have been blown out at times, generally a few key plays have determinded whether we win or lose and, and as mentioned above, ND has consistantly not made those plays in the past 15 years.

Lou's article is absolutely the truth !

  • "If there is a sound bite that had me most encouraged during Notre Dame’s frustrating 8-5 season in 2011, it was Brian Kelly’s 'You get what you deserve' line a few days after the 31-17 loss to USC."

Agreed, agreed, a thousand times, agreed!

Show me a coach who tells it like it is, doesn't make excuses and expresses unbridled emotion (Bill Belichick excluded - I swear that guy's barely human), and I'll show you a champion.

At the rish of sounding pie-in-the-sky, I really think Brian Kelly is on to something here. Paul Longo's strength and conditioning program is obviously making a difference. The recruiting staff is working veritable miracles during the offseason. And the team feels more like, well, a team, than it has in a very, very long time.

    83 days and counting...

  • Head coach Brian Kelly believes a football team "gets what it deserves".............so typical of the king to say that. the teflon chameleon again so deftly deflects any blame from himself. maybe the redzone raspberries are indeed all the players fault and not the offensive genious who drew up the plays to begin with.....

Run the ball. Stop the run. You win, or lose, up front.
