Led by Natalie Achonwa’s 20 points and 20 rebounds, the Irish defeated South Florida, 75-66, in Big East Championship action for their school record 24th straight win.
Achonwa was a force underneath. She should have scored even more, but struggled a bit at the line and missed a couple chippies in the paint. It was a good win in the kind of game that could have easily been lost, given how well USF was shooting 3's, and how poorly Diggins and McBride shot. But, the Irish just wore them down with relentless defense and drawing fouls with an aggressive attacking offense.
