Not quite. I did a story on this a few weeks ago and indicated that even if ND finished 13-0 and Michigan 7-6 (the worst it can do is 8-5 this year), iND would still be short by about a thousandth point.
Prior to the season Michigan was 895-310-36 for .73570.
ND was 853-300-42 for .73138.
Right now UM is 903-314-36 for .73504.
ND is 865-300-42 for .73405.
Here's the math that you have to do. You take the number of games played (1,253 for UM and 1,207 for ND) and divide it into the number of wins and half of the ties. In other words, for Notre Dame it would be 886 — 885 wins plus 21 (because that is half of its 42 ties). That's the way the NCAA measures it. A tie counts as a half-win, half-loss.
Could happen in 2013. The Rich Rodriguez era in Michigan kept ND within striking distance.

THat is amazing. We are going to win this game. I can feel it. I know it. The stars are aligning. Every single day I hear these people I live among that not only operate under the assumption that the NC was won in the SEC championship but that, as I was instructed yesterday, "anyone who knows anything about football knows Notre Dame doesnt even belong in the BCS NC." No kidding, I was told that yesterday by someone who otherwise is a rational human being.
God! We MUST win this game!

So if we do win and they lose their bowl game, then we can overtake them by beating them in the second game of the year in 2013. Man, would that be sweet to go into the big house as defending national champions and take back our all time winning percentage record.
(This also assumes we beat Temple and they beat Central Mich in the first game next year, but with the South Florida and Appalachian St games, maybe we shouldn't assume anything)
