OT- EVERY FATHERS DREAM

  • I Hope. After bringing home a string of losers, my 17 year old daughter had a young man come over last night to meet us. He brought his mother with him. He is a straight A student and wants to be an engineer. He is all conference in football (his dad played pro) and like us he is Catholic. He brought her home five minutes early.
I don't know whether to jump for joy or watch him like a hawk. What do y'all think?

This is really a dilemna, texas.

Ask him if he's going to Notre Dame? That should bring out the real colors! shrug

  • As long as it wasn't Lelly you should be good! Lol!! Yea give him some time. Finding respect these days in that age is becoming rare. Tell your daughter that if he opens the car door for her, if she likes him she should lean over and unlock his. It's a sign to him that she likes him. (what movie was that in?) I know it, but it's a true fact. Good luck TD1!!

  • Just stay up late at night cleaning your gun.

I really think having the 'talk' (actually more of a dropped comment) about the last thing either of you need is a pregnant teenager (saying just that and not much more), gets the point across. Then, stay out of the way and encourage her to bring him over all the time. Talk sports with him, and be happy to see him all the time. Tell your daughter what a great kid he seems to be.

I have three daughters, two of which with fine boyfriends/fiances, and one with a great sense of discretion (finally - after dating a string of jerks).

With my son, I only have one little head to worry about. With my daughters, I had a bunch of little heads to worry about.

  • Treat him like Family. The more he likes/respects/fears you the less likely he will be to try any funny stuff. In the words of the Godfather "keep your friends close and your enemies even closer"
