While I think we could bicker over some of the designations, and accept that he's erring on the side of being critical, there's still little question, for me at least, that you can't take all QB rankings to the bank. Or even half of them. This only confirms what I had observed in Notre Dame's QB recruiting going back over the years, though the rankings were less sophisticated back then. One must assume that, as the speed and complexity of the game increase, some are left by the wayside. Tommy Rees, for all his physical limitations, has probably won more games and put up better numbers than quite a few of those more gifted and talented 5-star performers. There's an X-factor to the position at this level. I think a big part of it can be found in the look in a QB's eyes. Exhibit #1: Joe Montana.
