  • About 2.5 weeks ago I walked into St. Joseph hospital in ATL to visit a friend who had surgery. It took me 8 days to leave.

While visiting my friend, I started gasping for breathe. Had the worst pain that I have ever had in my side/back. I left his room and by the time I made it to the wall in the hallway, I could barely breathe. A nurse walking by took no more than 30 seconds to assess the situation and grab a wheelchair and literally ran pushing me to the ER.

Turns out that I had a blood clot in my lung (pulmonary embolism). Doc said there was probably no way I would have made it to the hospital from my house and that if I had not been at the hospital when it occurred I might not be writing this now. Three days in critical care and 8 days total in the hospital and was finally released of course being on several meds.

What also makes this even more unbelievable is when my wife and I were walking into the hospital to visit my friend, the lobby had statues of St. Joseph. I mentioned to my wife that St. Joseph was my mom's favorite saint. (my mom passed three years ago). My wife then said, "hopefully not, but if you ever have to be in a hospital, this is the one to be in then." One hour later I was in critical care.

I write this because it makes me believe even more in angels and loved one's looking out for us. The nurses kept saying it was a miracle, as I write this I truly believe it and in our angels.

  • Unbelievable story.
Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidences.
God is good to everyone -- those that believe actually notice it.

  • You are where you are supposed to be and many times it has nothing to do with your life. God blessed someone in your situation and it may have been more then just for you. Thank you for sharing. Truly welled up reading that. God is awesome!

  • Good to have you with us, still!

My guardian angel's name is Roderick. I haven't talked to him in quite a while. This is a good reminder to get back in touch.

I am sure he will remind me that I only call when I need something. Must work on that.

  • I'm thankful to everyone and to have such a wonderful board where we can share personal things with our "virtual family". Thanks again to all of you for the thoughts and prayers and those who believe in miracles and guardian angels.

  • Amazing story, and I agree, not a simple coincidence.

I have marveled for a long time at people who say "I wish I could just once see a miracle." Miracles are around us every day if you care to open your eyes and see. And for those who read this story and don't see the miracle, it's sad to think that you will forever go through your life either wishing you could see one or thinking that there is no such thing. For the sad souls who think that one person's miracle means that God hates everyone else, my prayers. Why is it not possible to rejoice in the miracle that we do see without turning it around to somehow be a negative? Personally, I don't think that every good or bad thing that happens to someone is necessarily a direct order from God . . . but sometimes it's pretty obvious. To me, this is one of those times where it's obvious.

Glad you're still with us, Pete.
