Rockne's Roundtable

I was surprised how hard it is to pick a "poster of the week." So many
people on this board provide so many good posts that it is very difficult
to pick a person out and say "you're it." For example, 19blueandgold85
could be chosen each week since he not only initiates good posts but
regularly adds good insight to other posts. If the staff were eligible, they
would overwhelm all the rest of us. And so it goes.

I used the following criteria to arrive at my choice for this past week:

---one or more posts that stimulated both interest and discussion
demonstrated by number of people who looked at the post and
the number who joined in the conversation by posting replies;

---posts that garnered up votes, signalling that a goodly number
of people believed the posts contributed positively to our feelings
towards ND and ND football, as opposed to either simple
grandstanding or focusing on the negative for its own sake;

---posts that were timely and/or promoted discussion of topics
not usually voiced.

Based upon these criteria, my choice for POTW is Merlin08 for
his twin posts: the first focused our attention of the use (and
misuse) of social media such as twitter prompting 51 responses
and 19 upvotes. The second focused on the fact that Jack
Swarbrick's recent efforts with the conference commissioners
proves once again that dispite all attempts of ESPN and others
to discount ND, we have a way of resurfacing and proving our
long term relevance and viability in the least expected manner.
