Punt Return

  • How can we just give in like this? That isnt Brian Kelly. He just doesnt throw in the towel.

    2012 115th with a 2.4 avg return for 44 total yds
    2011 120th with .3 avg return for 4 total yds

    That is just flat out pathetic. I love our team this year but we cannot possibly be satisfied with just saying screw it. We were 100th in 2010 as well. Giving up isnt a characteristic of our coach which makes me thing there is something terribly wrong here.

  • This area must get better, it is truly amazing how inept we are in this phase of the game. Now if we go 12-0 every year i guess its ok,lol. But in seriousness, we do need to get better in this area. I am assuming we will.

  • It is a very real possibility that special teams will be the difference in our game against Alabama. The lack of a punt return game is pathetic. There is no excuse for it. USC has less players than we do, and they still managed to run punts back. Second, we don't ever block any punts or kicks. It's like we don't even try on special teams, and it is an utter mystery to me. Maybe next year we will get better at it. I just hope it doesn't cost us in the NCG.

  • The special teams will get better as ND continues to upgrade talent. Right now the better athletes arent being used to block for punts and if they need starters to be on coverage to be better, I am willing to sacrifice it.
