Will the coaching staff be pursuing a punter this class? Turk is out of eligibility after this year. With that said Brindza can kick and punt, however, I believe he was mostly recruiting for his field goal/kick off game.
That might depend on whether or not Nick Tausch comes back for a fifth year. With Tausch kicking field goals, the kickoff and punting duties wouldn't be overwhelming for Brindza. However, if Tausch is gone I've to imagine Notre Dame won't feel comfortable with no backup plan for Brindza. It's asking an awful lot to have one player handle all three kicking jobs.
Whether or not they dole out a scholarship may depend on who else they are able to wrap up at other positions. If they run out of open slots, I wouldn't be surprised to see a preferred walk-on in the kicking game next year. This is just my guess, I don't the details of what the coaches have planned here.
