Put the Crist question to rest...

  • imagine the defense playing as it did the last 3 games. Imagine Crist playing in a more dumbed down offense with more emphasis on the run (as was done for Rees). I believe, we lose 1 game (Stanford)...maybe last year. Crist was still learning the offense. Yes, he played inconsistent, but I believe we are a far better team with this kid under center if he is 100% healthy

  • ruptured patella tendon in his left knee and torn ligaments in his right knee= never 100% healthy again shrug

  • not to mention that he was learning the system the same as rees. rees in his brief time has been more effective as our qb regardless of better defense, or commitment to a running game etc. dayne has some tools to be a good qb, but he had to many WTF moments for me to be comfortable with him back there.

I agree, there were times when I would just look around the room at everyone asking WTF was that!!?? I fully understand that any QB running a new system is going to have some struggles, but Dayne seemed to be regressing as the season went on. I hope he can regain his health and compete for the starting job but the Crist question is from settled in my mind.....I just don't feel very comfortable with him at this point.

  • I am not sure who the next qb is going to be for us, but as far as this argument goes look at the TD-int ratio. It is heavily in Crist favor. I am not sure who should be qb next year but I do know that we need someone who can really run this offense to get us up to top speed.

rees had more than 1 WTF moment against usc. can't see how you

would be more comfortable with him at qb. also, i'm not really sure how much credit

rees should get for the last three wins.

  • Major up-vote for this thread. I completely agree. Crist is going to have a helluva year next season.

  • newman, the kid is a true freshman for godsakes! he is 3-0 as a starter regardless of good defense, better running game, less penalties etc. as a true freshman playing against the caliber of athletes the tommy rees played against he managed to get a win. don't forget that he did throw 2 td passes in that game. they weren't to wide open receivers either. give the kid a bit of a break! clausen, for as good as he was, as a frosh looked clueless alot!
